Our goal
HomeWattCost should be usable by everyone who pays an electricity bill, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or voice control. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we do
- Pages use semantic headings, landmarks, labeled form fields and a “Skip to content” link.
- Text and controls are designed for sufficient color contrast, and the time-of-use periods on charts are named in text and legends, not shown by color alone.
- Charts and the large number displays carry a text equivalent, and every calculator result is also written out in words.
- Calculators work with a keyboard, results are announced to screen readers when they change, and animations respect the “reduce motion” setting.
- Representative pages of every type are checked with automated accessibility testing before changes are published.
Known limitations
- The consent and privacy messages and the ads are provided by Google, and their accessibility is outside our control.
- Some wide tables scroll sideways on small screens.
