HomeWattCost.com provides home energy cost calculators and information about US electricity tariffs, for informational purposes. By accessing and using this site, you accept these terms of use.
Provisional owner and controller
HomeWattCost.com is a project in its launch phase, operated from Spain. Until the entity that will own it is registered, the individual promoter of the project is responsible for the website and its contents, and is the data controller described in the privacy policy. Once the company is incorporated, this notice will be updated with its legal name, tax ID and registered address.
Estimates, not bills
Results are estimates based on published tariffs, public data and the assumptions shown on each page. Your utility bill is the authority: taxes, local fees, discounts, rate changes and your actual usage will change the result. Always confirm current rates with your utility before switching plans.
No professional advice
Nothing on HomeWattCost is financial, tax, legal or engineering advice. Confirm incentives, tax credits and installation costs with a qualified professional before buying solar panels, a heat pump or a vehicle.
Conditions of use
You may use the calculators and read the content for personal, non-commercial purposes. Reproducing or redistributing the site’s content, or extracting its data by automated means, requires prior written permission.
Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, HomeWattCost’s text, tools, design and branding are protected by copyright. Third-party data remains under its own licence (below).
Data licences
- Tariff records from the OpenEI U.S. Utility Rate Database: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0.
- Residential load profiles from NREL’s End-Use Load Profiles (ResStock): Creative Commons Attribution 4.0.
- Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the EPA and NREL’s PVWatts: public US government information.
- Tariffs transcribed from utilities’ published tariff and rider sheets are cited on each utility page.
Disclaimer of warranties
The calculators give approximate results from your inputs and public sources. We work to keep tariffs current and check them against the utilities’ own documents, but we do not warrant that any result is accurate, complete, current or suitable for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, HomeWattCost is not liable for any direct or indirect damage, lost profit or loss arising from the use of this site or from decisions made on the basis of its results.

Governing law and jurisdiction
