How Duke Energy Indiana’s plans work
RS (Residential Service). In July the first 300 kWh a month cost 19.0¢ each; then 13.9¢ above 300 kWh a month, then 12.6¢ above 1,000 kWh a month. An average Indiana home (1,225 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher. Fixed charge: $13.70 a month.
RS TOU (Tariff No. 6.5) (Residential Time-of-Use). Mid-peak 12 am–1 am, Mid-peak 5 am–6 pm, Peak 6 pm–10 pm, Mid-peak 10 pm–12 am on July weekdays; 4 of 24 hours carry the top price of 21.7¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 8.9¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 12.9¢. January weekdays range from 8.9¢ to 21.7¢. Summer pricing applies Mar–Oct; winter pricing Nov–Feb. Fixed charge: $13.70 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, Duke Energy Indiana billed its residential customers an average of 12.75¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for Indiana’s price change since.
