How Evergy Kansas Metro’s plans work
R (Residential Service). One price per kWh at every hour: 13.1¢ in July and 10.8¢ in January. Shifting use to other hours changes nothing on this plan; using less is the only lever. Fixed charge: $14.25 a month.
RTOU-2 (Residential Time of Use Two-Period). Peak 4 pm–8 pm on July weekdays; 4 of 24 hours carry the top price of 30.4¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 9.9¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 20.5¢. January weekdays range from 7.1¢ to 11.0¢. Summer pricing applies Jun–Sep; winter pricing Oct–May. Weekends differ: off-peak all day. Fixed charge: $14.25 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, Evergy Kansas Metro billed its residential customers an average of 13.13¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for Kansas’s price change since.
