How El Paso Electric’s plans work
Rate 01 (Residential Service, Standard). In July the first 600 kWh a month cost 9.4¢ each; then 13.3¢ above 600 kWh a month. An average New Mexico home (942 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher. Fixed charge: $11.19 a month.
Rate 01 TOD (Residential Service, Time of Day). Peak 3 pm–7 pm on July weekdays; 4 of 24 hours carry the top price of 25.0¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 7.8¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 17.2¢. In January every hour costs the same (8.1¢). Summer pricing applies Jun–Sep; winter pricing Oct–May. Weekends differ: off-peak all day. Fixed charge: $11.19 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, El Paso Electric billed its residential customers an average of 10.16¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for New Mexico’s price change since.
