How MLGW’s plans work
RS (Residential Standard). In July the first 500 kWh a month cost 12.9¢ each; then 12.8¢ above 500 kWh a month. An average Tennessee home (1,494 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher. Fixed charge: $15.10 a month.
RS TOU (Residential Time-of-Use). Peak 1 pm–7 pm on July weekdays; 6 of 24 hours carry the top price of 20.8¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 10.9¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 9.9¢. January weekdays range from 10.9¢ to 15.0¢. Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays. Fixed charge: $15.10 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, MLGW billed its residential customers an average of 12.16¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for Tennessee’s price change since.
