How Austin Energy’s plans work
Residential (Residential). In July the first 300 kWh a month cost 11.2¢ each; then 11.7¢ above 300 kWh a month, then 14.1¢ above 900 kWh a month, then 17.4¢ above 2,000 kWh a month. An average Texas home (1,581 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher. Fixed charge: $16.50 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, Austin Energy billed its residential customers an average of 12.58¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for Texas’s price change since.
