Adding an EV driven 1,000 miles a month and charged at each plan’s cheapest hour, RS-TOD gives the lower total ($208 against $223 a month).

What is the difference between RS and RS-TOD?

RS is flat: the same price at every hour, with a fixed charge of $7.96 a month. RS-TOD is time-of-use (summer weekdays: Peak 7 am–8 pm; lowest price 8 pm–7 am next day), with a fixed charge of $9.82 a month.

How the two plans work

RS: Residential Service (Traditional)

  • One price per kWh at every hour, all year: 16.2¢.
  • Shifting use to other hours changes nothing on this plan; using less is the only lever.
  • Fixed charge: $7.96 a month.

RS-TOD: Residential Service Time-of-Day

  • Peak 7 am–8 pm on July weekdays; 13 of 24 hours carry the top price of 28.5¢.
  • The cheapest July weekday hour costs 8.3¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 20.2¢.
  • January weekdays range from 8.3¢ to 28.5¢.
  • Weekends differ: off-peak all day.
