How the two plans work

R-EV: Electric Vehicle Time-of-Use

  • Mid-peak 5 am–4 pm, Peak 4 pm–7 pm, Mid-peak 7 pm–11 pm on July weekdays; 3 of 24 hours carry the top price of 39.5¢.
  • The cheapest July weekday hour costs 11.2¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 28.3¢.
  • January weekdays range from 6.2¢ to 37.5¢.
  • Summer pricing applies May–Oct; winter pricing Nov–Apr.
  • Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays.
  • Fixed charge: $13.94 a month.

R-1 (Medium - Tier 2): Fixed Energy Charge Plan, Medium (Tier 2)

  • In July the first 401 kWh a month cost 17.4¢ each; then 16.8¢ above 401 kWh a month.
  • An average Arizona home (1,711 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher.
