How JCP&L’s plans work
RS (Residential Service). In July the first 600 kWh a month cost 18.9¢ each; then 25.8¢ above 600 kWh a month. An average New Jersey home (1,036 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher. Fixed charge: $4.27 a month.
RT (Residential Time of Day). Peak 8 am–8 pm on July weekdays; 12 of 24 hours carry the top price of 27.9¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 16.1¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 11.8¢. January weekdays range from 16.9¢ to 26.0¢. Summer pricing applies Jun–Sep; winter pricing Oct–May. Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays. Fixed charge: $8.07 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, JCP&L billed its residential customers an average of 15.65¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for New Jersey’s price change since.
