How the two plans work

RS: Residential Service

  • In July the first 600 kWh a month cost 28.6¢ each; then 29.9¢ above 600 kWh a month.
  • An average New Jersey home (1,036 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher.
  • Fixed charge: $6.00 a month.

RS-TOU-3P: Residential TOU, 3 Period

  • Mid-peak 6 am–4 pm, Peak 4 pm–9 pm, Mid-peak 9 pm–12 am on July weekdays; 5 of 24 hours carry the top price of 60.3¢.
  • The cheapest July weekday hour costs 9.6¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 50.7¢.
  • January weekdays range from 10.2¢ to 38.2¢.
  • Summer pricing applies Jun–Sep; winter pricing Oct–May.
  • Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays.
