How Con Edison’s plans work
SC-1 Rate I (Residential Service, New York City). In July the first 250 kWh a month cost 32.3¢ each; then 34.9¢ above 250 kWh a month. An average New York home (784 kWh in July) goes past the first tier, so extra load such as an EV is priced higher. Fixed charge: $23.91 a month.
SC-1 Rate III (Voluntary Time-of-Day, New York City). Mid-peak 8 am–2 pm, Peak 2 pm–6 pm, Mid-peak 6 pm–12 am on July weekdays; 4 of 24 hours carry the top price of 120.0¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 12.5¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 107.5¢. January weekdays range from 15.7¢ to 29.0¢. Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays. Fixed charge: $23.91 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, Con Edison billed its residential customers an average of 35.66¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for New York’s price change since.
