How AEP Ohio’s plans work
RS (Residential Service). In July the first 2,000 kWh a month cost 20.1¢ each; then 20.1¢ above 2,000 kWh a month, then 20.0¢ above 15,000 kWh a month. An average Ohio home (1,151 kWh in July) stays within the first tier. Fixed charge: $18.09 a month.
RS-TOU (Residential Time-of-Use). Peak 2 pm–6 pm on July weekdays; 4 of 24 hours carry the top price of 39.7¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 17.5¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 22.2¢. January weekdays range from 17.5¢ to 39.7¢. Summer pricing applies May–Oct; winter pricing Nov–Apr. Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays. Fixed charge: $18.09 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, AEP Ohio billed its residential customers an average of 19.33¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for Ohio’s price change since.
