How Met-Ed’s plans work
RS (Residential Service). One price per kWh at every hour, all year: 21.2¢. Shifting use to other hours changes nothing on this plan; using less is the only lever. Fixed charge: $11.34 a month.
RS-TOU (Residential Service, Time-of-Use Default Service). Mid-peak 6 am–2 pm, Peak 2 pm–9 pm, Mid-peak 9 pm–11 pm on July weekdays; 7 of 24 hours carry the top price of 31.0¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 15.9¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 15.1¢. January weekdays range from 15.9¢ to 31.0¢. Weekends differ: Mid-peak 6 am–11 pm. Fixed charge: $11.34 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, Met-Ed billed its residential customers an average of 17.37¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for Pennsylvania’s price change since.
