What is the difference between RS and RS-TOU?

RS is flat: the same price at every hour, with a fixed charge of $11.34 a month. RS-TOU is time-of-use (summer weekdays: Mid-peak 6 am–2 pm, Peak 2 pm–9 pm, Mid-peak 9 pm–11 pm; lowest price 11 pm–6 am next day), with a fixed charge of $11.34 a month.

How the two plans work

RS: Residential Service

  • One price per kWh at every hour, all year: 21.2¢.
  • Shifting use to other hours changes nothing on this plan; using less is the only lever.
  • Fixed charge: $11.34 a month.

RS-TOU: Residential Service, Time-of-Use Default Service

  • Mid-peak 6 am–2 pm, Peak 2 pm–9 pm, Mid-peak 9 pm–11 pm on July weekdays; 7 of 24 hours carry the top price of 31.0¢.
  • The cheapest July weekday hour costs 15.9¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 15.1¢.
  • January weekdays range from 15.9¢ to 31.0¢.
  • Weekends differ: Mid-peak 6 am–11 pm.
