How BGE’s plans work
Schedule R (Residential Service). One price per kWh at every hour: 20.7¢ in July and 21.2¢ in January. Shifting use to other hours changes nothing on this plan; using less is the only lever. Fixed charge: $10.32 a month.
Schedule RL (Residential Optional Time of Use). Mid-peak 7 am–10 am, Peak 10 am–8 pm, Mid-peak 8 pm–11 pm on July weekdays; 10 of 24 hours carry the top price of 30.3¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 16.0¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 14.4¢. January weekdays range from 18.1¢ to 31.8¢. Summer pricing applies Jun–Sep; winter pricing Oct–May. Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays. Fixed charge: $12.32 a month.
Schedule EV (Residential EV Time-of-Use). Peak 10 am–8 pm on July weekdays; 10 of 24 hours carry the top price of 29.6¢. The cheapest July weekday hour costs 15.9¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 13.7¢. January weekdays range from 17.7¢ to 31.4¢. Summer pricing applies Jun–Sep; winter pricing Oct–May. Weekends follow a different schedule from weekdays. Fixed charge: $10.32 a month.
Prices on this page are all-in per kWh, before taxes: base rates, supply and every per-kWh rider in the utility’s current tariff sheets. Your bill shows them as separate lines, and riders can change between tariff revisions.
As a cross-check, BGE billed its residential customers an average of 17.91¢ per kWh in 2024 (revenue ÷ sales, EIA-861). A plan taken from URDB is shown only if its all-in price is consistent with that figure, adjusted for Maryland’s price change since.
