What is the difference between R and R-PIV?

R is flat: the same price at every hour, with a fixed charge of $8.93 a month. R-PIV is time-of-use (summer weekdays: Peak noon–8 pm; lowest price 8 pm–noon next day), with a fixed charge of $8.93 a month.

How the two plans work

R: Residential Service

  • One price per kWh at every hour: 24.2¢ in July and 21.2¢ in January.
  • Shifting use to other hours changes nothing on this plan; using less is the only lever.

R-PIV: Residential Service - Plug-in Vehicle Charging

  • Peak noon–8 pm on July weekdays; 8 of 24 hours carry the top price of 32.5¢.
  • The cheapest July weekday hour costs 21.2¢, so moving 1 kWh out of the top hours saves 11.3¢.
  • January weekdays range from 17.5¢ to 35.5¢.
  • Summer pricing applies Jun–Oct; winter pricing Nov–May.
